Digital marketers only have to influence

Digital marketers only have to influence

Digital platforms don’t have to rely on selling but more of influencing an action to be taken. The person who engages with digital pieces such as websites or email at some point has requested to interact with them.

Dont spam audiences who have decided to interact with you or your company. Digital is supposed to be more marketing driven than actual selling. The person already wants the product or service that you are offering; that’s why they chose to sign up to receive your emails.

It’s up to you to figure out how to entice potential buyers. Offer them something that will make them take the next step to buy. In most cases it’s a discount or some additional item that they normally wouldn’t receive.

Design is the easy answer

Design is the easy answer

When you are unclear how to promote a product or service don’t fall into the trap of trying to redesign web pages. The graphic design of a web page isn’t stopping you from collecting new web leads. Make sure to provide good content/text to help your web audience easily make a decision. Hopefully that decision is to do business with you. If you fail to make good comtent/text you will definitely fail.

Tools are only tools

Tools are only tools

There are so many tools out there to assist in tracking a user’s buying journey.  Be careful to not focus on the tool but on your own strategy. Tools were meant to be adapted and for the most part they all do the same thing.

I’ve never seen a tool that fits company needs right out of the box. It takes time to move the technology in the direction of the business needs. The scary part about this is sometimes business needs change so rapidly that it throws off the tool customization from being successful.

What’s my day like?

What’s my day like?

I can tell that most people think that web peeps sit around and play with SEO all day. It’s actually nothing like that. I probably spend 90% of my day fixing or creating things. The other 10% I’m strategizing new ways to teach/educate people in the business.

If it was up to me I would use all of my time on educating. The value of getting everyone moving in the right direction is more beneficial long-term.

We are in a time where the short-term benefits over shadow everything. We are all looking for the quick win to show value and survive. Sometimes the quick win only produces one win that everyone  will eventually forget. It will keep you safe for a moment but what happens when you have no other ideas because you didn’t strategize?

Never stop communicating brand messages

Never stop communicating brand messages

Always continue to have your brands message in front of your customers. The branding message is what reminds the customer what your business is about. Doing this on digital platforms is probably one of the most easiest ways to do. Use digital banners to spread the message instead of using them to try and get a hard sale.

Game Systems Are Digital Platforms Business Should Think About

Game Systems Are Digital Platforms Business Should Think About

Non tech companies seem to not understand what all could be digital properties. Game Systems like Xbox and PlayStation are very strong digital platforms. Companies should think outside the box to figure out ways of how to use theservice platforms to their advantage.

A misconception

A misconception

With digital marketing there seems to be a misconception that you can show a digital ad to anyone and they will buy your product. It’s totally false, the people who buy your product were already looking for it you just gave them a reason to buy it at that moment.

Digital ads don’t truly attract buyers unless their is an offer to be made. Ads that truly work offer an exchange in a way that a consumer can’t refuse. If theirs no exchange you are attracting window shoppers.

Step away from your job and think about how you read emails

Step away from your job and think about how you read emails

One of the flaws that I see is most marketers can’t seem to think outside of their work culture.  Their mind is so engrained to follow the daily tasks or repeat the same terms as everyone else they are closed off to thinking like the outside world.

Instead of being able to see how they interact with their own emails at home, they can’t think like a consumer.  As a marketer this is not a good trait.

To create effective emails you have to understand how your customer thinks. What things do they perceive to be valuable and things that they believe are useless. This will help you to be able to write emails they care about.

Jaybird keeps it simple

Jaybird keeps it simple

I like companies that keep things very simple. Simple branding, and simple digital tactics that anyone can follow.

My wife bought a pair of jaybird headphones about a month ago. She had never heard of jaybird before. She had previously owned jbl headphones prior. The only reason she stopped using the jbl headphones is because she plugged them in to charge with some off brand charger and it destroyed them.

We went to the store to purchase another pair of jbl and came out with the jaybird headphones. One reason is because it was clear jaybird was targeting runners or people who were very active. The sign next to their headphones had a picture of a woman running, that caught my wife’s attention. The next thing was they cost the same as the jbl headphones. We tend to think on the side of don’t buy the same exact thing if you can try something new and get the same quality or better.

The jaybird setup website is so simple. They had a couple of videos explaining how the buttons work on the headphones and how to connect them to your phone. No extra garbage or popup ads in the way of getting the headphones up and running.

During this post I googled jaybird just to see what would happen. I found the jaybird site and their Facebook fan page. It’s that simple, so when you are trying to align your brand in the physical and digital space try to keep it simple for your targeted customer.

Do you make an actual product?

Do you make an actual product?

Did you know that people actually see your product somewhere then they go home and Google it?

Most people will research your product on the internet before going out to purchase it. They want to know what the reliability is of your product. That’s why in some cases reviews are a good thing. The problem is when you are the manufacturer people aren’t looking for reviews on your actual site. Most people are reading the reviews on a site that is not connected to you as a company. The reason for this is because they don’t want a biased opinion.
