We’ve forgotten how to truly market products

We’ve forgotten how to truly market products

With the advancement of the search engines and AdWords marketers have gotten lazy about how we try to market products. What’s so interesting to me is how there are only a few words that you can pick and compete for when doing AdWords campaigns. This drives the cost up because people are paying much more for the cost per click to be in the top of the results.

As a marketer it’s your job to figure out a creative solution to the AdWords competitors. Beinh lazy is not an option when you are competing to be seen.

Seeing the technical capabilities of websites

Seeing the technical capabilities of websites

If you still see websites as places to recreate your company brochure only you already lost. This is the old school way of thinking. Websites are applications in their own right. If your website is not an application you are on the wrong path.

A website should help a user to perform their desired easily. It’s meant to serve information fast and efficient. Whether the site is connected to your CRM or a simple database the person using it shouldn’t know the complexity only that it is easy for them to use.

Each person sees something different

Each person sees something different

When you make a digital ad you have a vision. The vision reflects what you want the viewer of your ad to perceive. At least that’s the intention. We all don’t think about things the same. You have to make sure your digital ads message makes sense regardless of who may be viewing it. You won’t ‘ve in the room to explain to the person viewing it what you meant.

Email marketing has an advantage when done right

Email marketing has an advantage when done right

I’ve heard for a while from some individuals that marketing emails don’t work. I would like to say if you have this stance there’s a good chance you are doing something wrong with your target audience.

When you are sending unwanted emails is when you don’t get the type of results you are looking for.

Let’s say you are at home with the windows open and a mosquito lands on your arm. You are probably going to get upset and try to destroy the mosquito. If the same thing happened but this time it was a butterfly your reaction may be completely different. It’s the same with emails, no one wants an unwanted intruder.

There’s a fish somewhere

In the water is a fish; you just need the right bait and the courage to start to make an attempt to find it.

It’s the same with marketing when you are looking for a new lead.

Build a website for a specific purpose

Build a website for a specific purpose

When you create a website understand the reason of why you built it. Don’t deviate from this reasoning when you start to target user’s in your marketing efforts.

Example: This digital marketing blog was created for marketers. I’m not going to start targeting web developers by mixing post that talk about web development. When you start mixing in materials that are unrelated you lose focus of the audience.

Why do you think fancier is better?

Why do you think fancier is better?

The more moving images on a web page draws attention to it but is it truly better? We are in a time where digital marketers like to fill pages with as much stuff as possible. It’s like an image overload for a web user.

Have you ever thought about if a user will figure out how to do the task you truly wanted them to do? Did you intend for them to fill out a web form but they got side tracked playing with an image animation?

Who cares about page visits?

If your company is so focused on page visits you are losing. If you have 50,000 page visits and no one fills out your sales form you have failed. Your company is in business to sell it’s product not count how many people look at a web page.

Color Me RAD 5K

The Color Me RAD 5K is a pretty simple marketing strategy. Take something simple and put a twist on it to make it unique. Take a normal 5K and include color powder on all competitors to make it different.
