Auction Bidding Picking Up

Auction bidding last week seemed to be pretty intense.  Three to four items I was watching with the intent to purchase got away from me.  The last thirty minutes of each of those auctions turned out to be a battle.

This is a good sign for slot car sellers; in this case showing demand is growing. When demand grows slot car prices will rise.  It will be interesting to see if the demand continues.

Occasionally I pick up a new car magazine, the one below is a good pick.  I’ve looked at this magazine multiple times in the last two weeks.  Even though they aren’t slot cars who can resist real exotic cars.  If you have this magazine let me know what you think about it.

  1. Hi! I’m trying to sell a collection of 174 slot cars (mostly Corvettes and street rods) that belonged to my Dad. What’s the best resource for pricing them?

    1. Right now there’s not really up to date books for the pricing of cars. Most of the books out there are pretty old. What I would recommend is find one or two of the cars you own on another sellers eBay auction for about a month. This will give you a good idea of what people are willing to pay for them.

Slot cars have always been big for older generations. Younger generations are slowly getting exposed to it so it’s taking a while for the market to pick up.

Do you know the size of the cars? HO, 1/32, 1/43 or 1/24? That will make a difference too.

    2. Hello Lisa, I’m Robert A.
I’ve been into slot cars over 40 years and still find the hobby
fascinating and fun. I buy slot cars if they are something I am interested in and the price is compensate to the condition.

I’d be happy to take a look at what you have and I would be able to render a FAIR & HONEST appraisal (from the pic sent) and that in itself is what it is as it’s always better to have, hold, and view in person, but it’s the second best manner to work with.
