Auction Bidding Picking Up

Auction Bidding

Auction bidding last week seemed to be pretty intense.  Three to four items I was watching with the intent to purchase got away from me.  The last thirty minutes of each of those auctions turned out to be a battle.

This is a good sign for slot car sellers; in this case showing demand is growing. When demand grows slot car prices will rise.  It will be interesting to see if the demand continues.

Occasionally I pick up a new car magazine, the one below is a good pick.  I’ve looked at this magazine multiple times in the last two weeks.  Even though they aren’t slot cars who can resist real exotic cars.  If you have this magazine let me know what you think about it.

Coffee Cars Breakfast

Coffee Cars Breakfast

coffee

Coffee on a Saturday is a way to catchup as well as do some racing.  Cars are always changing which provide many topics to talk about.  Topics could be about the newest slot cars on the market, or how to modify a car to be faster.

Regardless of the topics it’s truly just a way to see friends and enjoy good coffee.

Dreaming Provides Opportunity

Dreaming

Dreaming about cars is an outlet to escape pressures.  Tough days can be handled with the smell of fuel or in this case electricity.  Forgetting about what went wrong in a day is crucial.

Adults love slot cars for various reasons, thus the reason to purchase them is broad.  In addition, cars give the feeling of being a child again.  Feelings of excitement and butterflies.

Desires to own are created by small dreams.  Dreaming consistently pushes a person to have the experience in real life.  Slot cars are the next logical step based on cost and not to mention their small size.  It’s easier to purchase an exotic car for $50 versus a real car for $300,000.

Investing Over Time Slowly

investing

Investing is something that everyone should do, thus increasing wealth.  Building wealth comes in different methods and slot cars can be one of the paths.   Planning what cars to buy at what time; in addition understanding when to sell a car.

Slowly build a car collection while keeping an eye on car values.  Are the cars increasing or decreasing in value?  Once a car is sold should another car be purchased to take its place?  Should cars be sold at all?  You will need to answer these questions yourself.

Slot cars can be valuable, in addition provide a safe place to put money for future use.  With platforms such as eBay it’s easy to recoup cost or even make money.

Lancia LC2 Racing 1985

Lancia Slot it

Lancia LC2 is light and very quick, thus ideal for experienced racers.  The lightness is kept on track by a very strong magnet.  There are no front or rear lights on this car.

Slot it cars are known for their high detail which this car is no different.  Vibrant red and green colors cover this car.  The advertisements are very authentic.

In addition, black tires with yellow Dunlop lettering make this car look even more real.

This car is zippy, the sound of the engine is what makes it worth the cost.  It has a winding sound when the motor gets wound up causing it to sound like a real race car.

GT Contest Good Starter Track

GT Corvette Starter

GT Contest is a good starter track for any level of slot car enthusiast. Track layout is an oval or figure eight. The two cars are very hard plastic thus not easy to break.

The track is compatible with any Carrera 1:43 slot car. Track pieces easily fit together and disconnect quickly. There’s no difficult locking mechanisms on the tracks.

I run these cars on a Scalextric digital track in analog mode. Since the cars are small it’s easy to get them up to speed quickly.

Magnets are strong in each car making it hard for them to lose traction.

Camel Yellow Porsche 908

Camel 908 Slot Car

Camel 908 Porsche is a slot car for adults.  While it drives very well its body is fragile.  It has one mirror that can easily fall off.  If the car is dropped the body will crack.

Analog is the default setting for the slot car.  To make this car digital it will need to have an aftermarket chip such as Scalextric c7005.  A hole must be drilled into the bottom of the car.  Once the hole is drilled the bulb will fit directly through it.

Camel 908 Bottom

The body of this car is two pieces.  The rear wheels are contained in one section, thus once unscrewed it will completely dislodge itself.  The body setup makes it a little difficult to work on.

A very strong magnet keeps the Camel glued to its track.  There are no special features to this car such as rear or front lights.

AutoArt Bugatti Veyron

AutoArt Bugatti Left

AutoArt Bugatti Veyron has all  wheel drive traction. The car handles very well using the all wheel drive system.  Not to mention the weight of the car keeps it glued to the track.

Inside the vehicle are a woman and man.  It reminds me of a Carrera slot car with the driver.

Low sound quality is expected by this type of car in addition it translates into smooth drivability.

Very smooth movements make this car a contender to any slot car.  Feel confident taking this car to any open event racing.  If not coming in first with this car it will be a close second.

Smart Phones Change Auction Bidding

Smart phones allow for viewing of slot car auctions all day.  Having the eBay app gives an easy way to be competitive.  Competitiveness is healthy for the community, which strengthens prices.

Internet changed how bidders buy; giving them complete control.  Whether it’s morning, afternoon or evening bidders can increase their price. This helps to get higher prices for cars.

Phones give access to groups of people who wouldn’t be able to participate in auctions. Before smart phones computers were the only way to get access.  Completely mobile, people can bid at restaurants, while on vacation, work or while shopping.
