GT Contest Good Starter Track

GT Contest is a good starter track for any level of slot car enthusiast. Track layout is an oval or figure eight. The two cars are very hard plastic thus not easy to break.

The track is compatible with any Carrera 1:43 slot car. Track pieces easily fit together and disconnect quickly. There’s no difficult locking mechanisms on the tracks.

I run these cars on a Scalextric digital track in analog mode. Since the cars are small it’s easy to get them up to speed quickly.

Magnets are strong in each car making it hard for them to lose traction.

Mercedes 1/43 Silver Carrera

Small Carrera cars are a good way to get into the hobby. The first track I started with was a track from Hobby Lobby that I used the 40% coupon on. If you aren’t familiar with the Hobby Lobby coupons download the app for the store on your smart phone. Once you have the app look for the coupons section. You can only use the coupon on one item.

This Mercedes I got on EBay brand new for around $15. The Hobby Lobby stores in my area don’t carry these cars individually anymore. It was a brand new car sold by user power_hobby.

I run these 1/43 cars on my Scalextric 1/32 track. Due to their small size I can get these cars up to full speed on the straights. To get them to work I had to shave the both sides of the guide so it would fit in the slot.

488 Ferrari Carrera Deal

This 488 Ferrari was won on Ebay for $25; I love when I find good deals.  The Ferrari had a broken wing and missing both mirrors.  The auctions like this one are where you’ll find really good cars

The first thing I did after receiving the 488 Ferrari was put the wing back on.  I used Super Gel Gorilla glue, it dries strong and is clear.  I let it dry for about 2 hours before playing with the car.  You’ll see from the pictures you can’t tell where it was glued on.

The car drives like a brand new car, I’m assuming the first owner rarely played with the car.  The stickers show no wear and the paint is very good.  There were no modifications done to the car at all.
